Malawi SDNP will run a training workshop on web site development at its location at the Polytechnic in Blantyre during 21-25 February 2000.

The workshop will run a Workshop Website where you can find more detailed information on the workshop. This will include details on the workshop website project as announced below that each participant is expected to carry out during the workshop.

PARTICIPATION: Interested organisations and individuals need to submit an application to attend the workshop.

COVERAGE: The workshop will cover the following areas:
 

  • Introduction to the Internet
  • Web navigation and searching
  • Web authoring using Netscape Composer
  • Introduction to HTML
  • Document Links, Formatting, Graphics, Tables, Forms, Frames
  • Up-loading and publishing
  • Web servers and search engines
  • Project: Organisational Website
  • PARTICIPANTS: Eligible participants will be those with a good computer background preferably with good experience in word processing, some experience in Internet applications such as e-mail and web surfing. Applicants with a certificate, diploma in a computer field or a degree in any field will have added advantages.

    For this first such workshop, applicants will need to show the backing of their organisations to attend and will be required to bring enough materials to start a website on their organisations as a project. Materials should include a brochure and documents on current activities of the organisation, projects, links with other organisations and interaction with the community.

    FEES: The workshop fee is MK8200. This will cover accommodation at Polytechnic, workshop fees, conference materials, breakfast, lunch and dinner served at the Polytechnic Senior Common Room. A few well qualified participants will be sponsored by Malawi SDNP.
